AWD and Forced Induction Cars?

Sounds like a cheaply tuned car. Probably some kid who thought he was getting a good deal for a 1500 dollar turbo kit to really make his civic hatchback a REAL pussy getter

haha true, its just so many cars transfer it so poorly to the axels.
No , wasn't a civic. It was a golf GTI like the OP's car.

If you want different....look for a Mitsu VR4, or a Dodge Stealth RT/TT. Same car really, the mitsu just has a few more interior gadgets. Both awd and both TT. Nice looking too.
Good luck finding one in decent shape for a decent price. They are hard to find.

I didn't read the rest of the thread, but I'll give you my input.

I just traded in an '01 Jetta 1.8T for an '02 BMW 330xi. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Its funny that you mention the 1.8T and the BMW in the same thread.

The VW/Audi and BMW platforms are both very expensive to maintain and repair. I don't know about your experience with VW/Audi, but it seems like there is always some sensor or small part that's going bad. If you have time to troubleshoot and fix yourself, great. After a couple of years of replacing countless little parts, upgrading the downpipe and intake.....replacing the turbo, timing belt needing to be replaced......It was about time to trade it in. Only 113K miles!

BMW on the other hand, has a tendency to eat water pumps. When the water pump fails, the fan and shroud usually get taken out. Had the same thing happen on my mother in law's Z3.

Long story short, if I had the money I would go with the WRX or Lancer EVO! Both of those cars are bulletproof and easy to upgrade.

They might not have the luxury of a BMW or Audi, but they have the power and performance. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I would do some more research, but I think they are more reliable than the VW/Audi or BMW platforms also.

I don't know how nicely you have to drive to get an 28 mpg average. My cousin has the LS1 and driving nicely, he averages about 18 mpg with a mix of 80% city/20% highway. My buddy has an LS2 and he is lucky to get 20 driving extremely conservatively. He is more like 65/35 city/highway. I do agree with you on the sound of the V8 vs the V6 though. To that respect, "there's no replacement for displacement."
