Forget the Evo X, go 8/9 if you want performance. Spend a g or two on it depending on what parts it already has, get tuned and have around 350whp, run E85 and you will be 400+whp, all on a daily drivable street car, stock turbo;
source. On the east coast look for a Buscher car. The Evo (8/9) has awesome seats but that's about it, you want anything else (vanity mirror lights, cruise control, stock nav/auto climate control, power seats, leather aux power sockets, bluetooth) look elsewhere. The Evo X, Audi, Mazdaspeed3 have more creature comforts then the 8/9 but give up the performance edge IMO. The Evo is not a quiet car, some even come without sound deadening, a/c, power windows and stereo, the RS is meant to be turned into a track car. The Evo pops, squeaks, rattles, vibrates, groans and the brakes squeal like a g/d city bus but it goes through the canyons like nothing else. It is a true enthusiast car, almost no compromises and not audio friendly, 90 amp alt btw and a ***** to change out!
Just trying to give some insight to the Evo, 100k on mine so far and it still makes my heart smile every time I start it up. Good luck with your search, driving a car that you love is a great experience.
