auxillary port in amp

im thinkin MP3 to EQ to amp. if I absolutely NEED a line driver, ill get it later. i am ordering some either kicker or diamond comps, i know they are not the greatest as they are low level comps, but i just need some music in the truck, and a kicker 200.2
get the rsd's...they are highly rated around here

Good lord, blind leading the blind here.

You'll need to pick up at least a cheap external 3way xover to run the setup. One that will function off of one input.

You'll use a mini-plug to RCA adapter as suggested as an input to the xover. The over will supply 3 pairs of RCA outputs, and the xover points for the outputs (adjustable HP/LP). Run the outputs to your amps.

Done.

why would the other not work?

What other? EQ + Linedriver... that would be stupid. An EQ on adjust the LEVEL of certain individual frequencies (graphic) or a small range of frequencies (parametric). Not to mention more devices than necessary in the signal path is stupid.

Most xovers will have a level control (aka linedriver) built in, and they will properly CROSSOVER the audio signal... not just boost or cut certain frequencies.

then for the moment since he will be running one amp, would it not work to just run from the mp3 directly to the amp and use onboard eq and the amp's hp?

now im confused. where can i see this "3way crossover". who makes one?

Why would you need the onboard EQ.

And yes, if the amp has a sufficient HP filter then you can use it. Remember the slopes on them are very shallow usually.

Also, saywhat, I'd look into something like the Kicker KX3... pretty cheap and will do the job. Better than Lanzar //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thanks ngsm

and to answer, if he was going directly from mp3 to amp, the on board eq would be his adjustment....

so ng, given i dont have an eq and the only adjustment would be thru my zune, will the 3 way crossover work well in my situation? obviously the componants will have a crossover as well, but will my "tuning" be well enough suited for a basic setup?

edit:and this is going to sound really cheap, but im trying to just get some music in my car without going insane. the kicker is a little out of range, as i have bigger projects going on with the truck at the same time, is there a median somewhere in between the two?

edit: just so you know, this is going in a tiny *** toyota regular cab pickup. i dont need rear speakers obviously, so would something like the kicker kx2 work or do i need a bit more tunability than that?
