Autotek M1600.2..?

I know it's probably quite a horrid amp, and doesn't do rated. I'm just going to be in need of some power onto the mids/highs stage in my car... The Autotek M1600.2 isn't much money...

It's $110 and "claims" 400x2 @2ohm. I know it won't do that.. I'd expect somewhere around 550ish.

Is there a better choice in a mids/high amp for cheap that will do a nice amount of power at 2ohm per channel? I'd like to spend as little as possible. Going to have to send enough power to 4 Crescendo 6.5's along with 2 tweeters (not sure which tweeters yet) to keep up with a 15 on 1200-1500 watts.

Off topic but do are you running the highs of a crossover network or what. It's pretty tough to get good sound patching together highs with out running active.

Hmm.... Might have to contact that guy.. Thanks!

That, I'm not entirely sure about.. Haven't done too much thinking about what I'm gonna do for crossing, really. Possibly just get an EQ? I'm not so good at choosing that kind of equipment. No real experience with that quite yet...

The best advice I can give you is to just buy a good comp set and forget about matching tweets and mids through a network. There are many great sets out there that won't break a budget. A quality set off 100 rms a side will easily keep up with a 15 off 1500 watts.

Now I'm not too sure about what brand to look at for some comps.. I like the Alpine 6.5's in my truck.. But I'm not sure if I want to do Alpine for my car. You have any suggestions for what brand to look at for components? My car's stock sizes are 6x9's in the front doors and 5x7's in the rear deck. And would I be better staying with those sizes, or making my own baffles for say some 6.5's?

the following is just an example of what can be had for ALOT less than comparable comps from Name Brands...

Dynavox LW6004PMR 6-1/2" Woofer 295-605

Morel MDT 12 1-1/8" Neodymium Tweeter 277-060

Dayton Audio XO2W-3.5K 2-Way Crossover 3,500 Hz 260-146

the above would total $260.00 for a set...comparable to what? a $1500 set of Morel comps?
