Authorized Dealers?! Confused!

I am confused - when I look on several websites such as Rainbow's, Massive Audio's, etc. it specificially states that you need to buy from "authorized dealers" and that their products found on the web will NOT be backed by their warranty AND could be FAKE!

This has me paranoid - how should I go about this? Should I only contact the manufacturer's website for these type of products to find authorized dealers and email them for quotes?

Has anyone else come across this concern?
