That definitely looks like the same driver in that powered Aura sub! (at least from the outside)
I've gotten a chance to mess around with these free air and - WOW!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
They seem to play well from ~40hz - 1000 or so and get really scratchy or boxy sounding after that.
I didn't bother building an enclosure for them, don't have the time and I'm going to be mounting them in doors. So far, I'm very impressed.
I was pushing one with a home theater amp with only 30-watts or so and the cone was barely moving (considering its free air!).
The suspension is very stiff, the spiders are nice, at least 7/8 roll spider //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I would say at least 1/2" xmax. The surround is kinda stiff for my liking, but feels very durable. I would say they can handle an easy 125-200W RMS (rated for 100). The magnet has no field which is nice for getting near crossovers (interference) and doors.
I found a set of SoundStream XTS6.5 3-ways I forgot I had. I'm going to run these with the Aura speakers to give me full range. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I also got a cheapie set of AudioPoop 3-way passive crossovers with a 500hz LPF on the woofer to drive these Aura 8's.
