i gotta admit, i really do like feeling that deep bass...

i know there was a post about this once but that only got 4 replies and none of them helped

If you're genuinely considering paying $180/each for them all I can say is you must enjoy getting ripped off!!!

And here's why I say that...

Edit: Springy beat me to it but I'm glad of it as that shows I wasn't the only one thinking it...

Do you need the amp that Aura is selling?

There isn't a specific amp that these need to work the way they are designed to work. They'll accept input from any amp just the same as any given speaker will accept input from any amp.

I can't make the call on whether or not you should "go for it" as I have never experienced one of them to be able to make a judgement as to whether or not I feel them to be worth the investment.

Having said that unless you need an amp then there's not much sense in buying the one that Aura is trying to sell you ~ especially considering the Shakers are less than $40/each from Parts Express.

Edit: Additionally the amp on Aura's site gives an output rating @ 8 Ohms and doesn't state whether it is stable for operation any lower than that. Not a great buy going merely by the available information IMO.

you know of any 50 watt x 2 amps?

Here's 5 amps on Crutchfield that would do that adequately.

The 200SX refurb on this page ($39 + shipping) is rated for 60w X 2 and is likely more along the lines of 50w.

There's 6 of them just searching quickly and with a bit more time invested (that I'm not willing to put forth right now) I've no doubt many more could be found.

Just get a cheap plate amp.
A plate amp won't be of much use to him in a car...
