depends, spl competitors throw as much as 5kwrms to one. Daily people run 1000-2000 to one.

Less than 1k and you'll end up turning the gain to max, and thus clipping the life out of the signal, so all you'll end up hearing is distorted nonsense which is only serving to overheat and overdrive the amp. The sub will sit back and watch.

i run 1200 to mine in 2.4 cf 37hz and it will make you deaf =P

My 10 Does not like the single 1200d, really likes them strapped. Id say 2400 of amp and 2000 all day. I clamped mine at 2000 and id say it could take that all day.
