Audioque HDC3 power requirements??

I'm interested in picking up a Audioque HDC3 to put in my truck but wanted to know if it will sound good off of about 1200 watts? I know they are rated at 1000 rms and 2000 peak, but I see lots of posts about people feeding them double that. Am I wasting my time with only 1200 watts or will it perform decently?

I have my HDC3 10 on a Sundown 1500D. It gets plenty loud for daily. It will do a 141.2 at the headrest on music.

Getting a 10 to do a 141.2 at the headrest off only 1500 watts is a very respectable score. Especially if it is a larger vehicle. So hopefully you get a 15 and put it in a small car so you can be louder and not complain.

The box that the sub is in right now has a lot of rise. I was only pulling about 600 watts from my amp. Also, I have this thing tuned pretty low. I'm not real sure where it is tuned to right now, but I know that it is peaking at 43Hz.

It is plenty loud for a daily setup. I just wanted something that took up less room than the 15 Q and the 3000D.

If I get bored, I might build a fart box for it and throw the 3000D on it just to see what it will do.

well i have my hdc3 on 2500 watts and it gets realy loud! right now my peak is around 143.8, with a 15 that is, at the head and thats in a trunk also. i still have some adjusting tuning wise to do, port lengths and so.

yeap, one 10 on MUSIC for 141.2 is very impressive!
