Audioque 1200D??

YA its new, scheduled to be shipped out 1st week of jan 08.preorder of 239 seems good to me.I dont know of the quality as i dont think anyone has gotten 1 yet to test.maybe we'll find out something on here.good post kold.

I just picked one up today to play with. I haven't gotten a chance to hook it up yet, but I got a chance to look at the actual Audio Precision test bench results. The amp will easily pass a CEA compliance test. Judging from the test bench results, it could probably be rated 1400 watts and still pass. Very clean looking amp. I'm going to swap test it against one of my DD M1a's and see how it stacks up in the real world. The boards look very similar, with just a few differences. I expect the results will be nearly the same.

Tested the amp this morning. I have a VERY solid power supply for a single 1200d. The amp made 55.3 volts, and 11.08 amps at max power/full clip (whatever you want to call it). For the guys that haven't figured out Ohm's law, that is 612.7 watts at 5.0 ohms! I have no doubt that it would make well over 1200 watts if I had the right impedance coils to get the reactive impedance down to around 1 ohm.

BTW the swap test with the DD M1a yeilded the exact same score, as I suspected it would.

I'm going to put a little daily driving time on the amp to see if it does anything dumb like get hot, or sound like crap, but so far it looks promissing.

Thanks Jeremiah, please keep us updated! Nearly posted this same thread last night.

Site says "These brand new amps are scheduled for delivery January 2008. We will be accepting preorders until December 15th. You can expect your amp to be shipped to you the last week of January." Hopefully that's true, I'd love to get one of these. Along with the new HDC312!

Jeremiah you compared this amp to a M1a. The M1a is a stronger amp than the older model M1 isn't it or is the older M1 stronger than the M1a? I am just asking because on soundpressure's forum it shows a test of a M1, older model, doing over 1400 on 12.5 and doing over 1900 on 14.4, just wondering if this amp is along those lines of power or am I way off? Sorry if it is a dumb question and I look forward to seeing some tests of the AQ2000 whenever it is available to test. I really want to put one on each of my HD3's, like now, but I guess I will have to wait. Also how do these amps take lower loads?

Not trying to down the product at all because it is a hellofa deal for the money, but:

Output Power 14.4V @ 5% THD 1470X1 @ 1 ohm
Won't quite a few amps put out more than rated power when you get to that high of a distortion level?

I know lower distortion levels are consider no big deal, but when does it start to effect what most people hear. I know for competitions and stuff it doesn't matter, just curious for daily what a person can cleanly expect if that high of a THD rating does make a difference.

The AQ1200D's board is very similiar to the M1a's board. The m1 was a stronger amp then the M1a.

5% is about the minimum level most bass heads run their amps at and is inaudiable and is considered a "soft" clipp. The actual THD @ 1470 is closer to 3% THD but I rounded up to be on the safe side.

I don't list a max power or 15.9V rating because i believe those are BS ratings to begin with.
