Audiopipe must be from aliens

I can't figure it out. I bought this audiopipe ap 1500 and put it on my RD alpha v2 @ 1 ohm. The aloha seemed to be getting hot(shouldn't have happened). I figured because of my stock electrical the amp was sending a clipped signal @ 1 ohm so I picked up an Orion hcca 4ohm and wired it down to 2ohm just to be safe until I got my electrical upgraded. This amp is rated at 950 rms @ 2 ohm and now the hcca is getting hot and smelly. There's no way in hell the hcca should get hot and there's no way that amp is clipping that bad at 2 ohms. So now I'm lost any ideas?

set headunit at flat, no bass boost, adjust ur gain properly. the ap15001's are strong lil amps...

could ur box be kinda big for the subs?

Shouldn't I be able to crank that amp all the way or close to it?? It shouldn't be under any stress and there's no voltage drop. And my box is a bit small if anything so idk

Oh and bass boost has always been turned off. I never turn that up on any amp

I'm going back to some alpine pdx 1000.1s, I successfully put over 1k to a single type R on a stock electrical in a g6

No, its not a volume knob. For the same output from the amp for example. My headunit has 2.5v outputs and the gain is 1/2 then if your headunit has 4v outputs then your gain would be about 1/4 of the way for the same output from the amp. This is just a quick example so don't follow to the T.

If your gain is up all the way, thats def yer problem.

you must be clipping bad to get that amp to start frying an hcca. unless its the old hccas that were crap.
