AudioBahn

A friend of mine has 2 aw12se (i think) audiobahn subs. They are in a small sealed box. They put out close to no sound with a 1600 watt legacy amp. They have less bass then a pair of 6x9's? Any idea why they would sound so terrible? It isnt the amp, because the amp sounds great with a pair of kicker cvr 12's. We also tried a 2400 watt legacy amp with the same results. Any ideas on improving the sound would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Are the voice coils wired incorrectly? It is possible they are blown, many people do not realize when they have fried drivers. It could also be the enclosure, depending on how it actually is.

And revrider- I do not think anyone feels that Audiobahns are 'quiet' //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Even though the equipment isn't that good, it probably wasn't installed well. I'd take a guess that the RCA's are not connected all the way, you can lose a lot of ouput that way.

It could be a whole PLETHORA of things, they might just be flat out installed wrong... they might be broken... while I don't like audiobahns stuff, a pair of 12's should easily be louder than 6X9's

Are you sure you have them wired in phase?

The small sealed box is the biggest problem, pretty much all of Audiobahn subs are designed with ported enclosures in mind.

Your output will raise considerably in a ported enclosure.

wired in phase? could you explain that, no clue what that means. The amp was hooked up correctly, and the subs were said to be "brand new" but he did buy them on ebay so who knows. Is there any way I could check to see if they are blown?
