audiobahn a8000t protection mode

ok, i was having problems with my audiobahn a8000t amp. It was blowing fuses about 5 seconds after the amp powered on. It would blow both of the 30a fuses. So I had one of my friends take a look at the amp. He took it apart and looked for any shorts. There was three transistors that were bad, so we got them replaced and after getting them back on the board he rechecked everything to see if there were any shorts, there wasn't. Everything looked good.

So we hooked the amp up and as soon as it turns on the red light turns on showing it is in protection mode. The only thing that is plugged up to the amp is the power, ground, and remote.

Any ideas?

I have an idea. Could it possibly be the temp sensor? Because the amp goes into protection mode if there is a short circuit, overload, dc offset or if it gets too hot. So maybe when the amp shorted out, the temp sensor shorted out as well. So if the temp sensor is not working maybe the amp thinks it is overheated so it enters protection mode.

Does anyone have any idea on what the temp sensor might look like? And does anyone else think this might be the problem?

Okay what you want to do is go to your nearest electronics store where they sell temperature sensors. Install it into the amplifier, and do not hook it up to the power yet. First, you must test the continuity by throwing it off of a cliff. If the amp survives then the continuity is good. Audiobahns are good amps so it should pass the continuity test.

Along with the FET's, you need to check the resistors around the FET's. They are common to go out also. This could be causing the protection fault.

Also, I have worked on quite a few Audiobahn amps and I have never had any problem with the temp sensors. I seriously doubt that would be your problem, but you never know.
