Audio video problem

Hello,

Yesturday I hooked up a audio video system in my 01 durango r/t, The amp and subs run fine as does my monitor. Yet all I get is the lows through my subs.Here is how its hooked up. I have a converter to power the dvd player,now the audio from the dvd player is ran to a Y conector to the rca hook ups behind the deck ( 2 total left and right) . Now the video is hooked up to the monitor,once I turn the deck to ext in, I get sound but its only through the subs"all lows". Now on the back of my deck there is 4 audio out jacks, witch I did try and there is no sound. My question is how do I get sound through my other speakers in the truck"highs"? Ive tried all the options on my deck,so it has to be hooked up wrong or Im gonna need a 4 channel amp to hook up the other speakers in the truck right? I really need to know how to fix this problem.thanks guys!

So what your saying is you've connected the dvd audio out to the head unit pre out? Or when you say,"rca behind deck" , what exactly do you mean?
