Question about what kind of file compresses the audio the best.....(as in .wav, .mp3, .whatever else there are.) I'm having trouble with some shit, even if i save a very short clip it will be 1MB of data saved.

Any and all input would really help.

Thanks guys!

Define short?!?

Your average song, in .mp3 format, ripped @ 320kbs will take up 6~8MB of HD space //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I have a Priemier 880 PRS. Plays most formats. Should I burn my cd's at VBR or 320k? What about other formats like Flac, Wav, OGG etc. Basically trying to find which format would provide the best sound quality whilst taking up the least space.

Hands down the best codec for getting good quality out of small file sizes is OGG / Vorbis. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/imo.gif.3a57bcc70a4835dc53e86ffae1a0b041.gif

Flac and Wav are lossless, giving about 50% and 0% compression against a CD, respectively. About 20 to 30 megs / song for FLAC, 40-60 megs / song for WAV. So space is definitely not an issue for fans of each.

MP3 is a common standard, but in it's usual form it's pretty worthless. Once you get up to date codecs and more professional software for ripping CDs you can bring MP3 into a competitive SQ / size ratio against other better codecs like OGG / Vorbis.
