Audio dips in and out

Long story short... home receiver inside the house, speaker wire ran all the way outside to some outdoor speakers... we put the music up loud so I can work on the truck in the backyard, and the music goes in and out randomly... usually lower higher lower higher... I can't really explain it.

Any ideas on what it could be? They play fine inside the house at the same time as the outside speakers. I have a DMM if I can test anything?

Well....

Running long distance with 8 ohm or 4 ohm usually requires a very large gauge of cable.

If it is because of loss, then it will be ok volume durring a non demanding range in the speaker and the drop off durring higher current parts of the music.

How long of a run is it? What type of speakers/amp? And what type of cable/size?
