Verse 1: Raekwon The Chef

I grew up on the crime side, the New York Times side

Stayin' alive was no jive on second hands

Moms bounced on old men

So then we moved to Shaolin land

A young youth, yo rockin the gold tooth, 'Lo goose

Only way, I begin to gee off was drug loot

And let's start it like this son, rollin wit this one

And that one, pullin out gats for fun

> But it was just a dream for the teen who was a fiend

Started smokin woolies at 16

And running up and gates, and doing hits for high stakes

Makin' my way on fire escapes

No question I would speed, for cracks and weed

The combination made my eyes bleed

No question I would flow off and try to get the dough all

Stickin' up white boys on ball courts

My life got no betta, same **** 'lo sweater

Times is rough and tough like leather

Figured out I went the wrong route

SO I GOT WIT A SICK *** CLIQUE AND WENT ALL OUT!

Catchin keys from across seas

Rollin in MVP's, every week we made 40 g's

Yo ***** respect time, or anger the tech-9

Ch-chick-POW, move from the gate now

Chorus: Method Man

Cash Rules Everything Around Me

C.R.E.A.M get the money

Dolla, dolla bill y'all

Verse 2: Inspectah Deck

It's been 22 long, hard years of still strugglin'

Survival got me buggin', but I'm alive on arrival

I peep at the shape of the streets

[these lyrics are found on http://www.songlyrics.com]

And stay awake to the ways of the world 'cause shit is deep

A man with a dream with plans to make C.R.E.A.M.

Which failed; I went to jail at the age of 15

A young buck sellin drugs and such who never had much

Trying to get a clutch at what I could not... could not...

The court played me short, now I face incarceration

Pacin -- going up state's my destination

Handcuffed in back of a bus, forty of us

Life as a shorty shouldn't be so ruff

But as the world turns I learned life is hell

Living in the world no different from a cell

Everyday I escape from Jakes givin chase, sellin base

Smokin bones in the staircase

Though I don't know why I chose to smoke sess

I guess that's the time when I'm not depressed

But I'm still depressed, and I ask what's it worth?

Ready to give up so I seek the Old Earth

Who explained working hard may help you maintain

To learn to overcome the heartaches and pain

We got stickup kids, corrupt cops, and crack rocks

And stray shots, all on the block that stays hot

Leave it up to me while I be living proof

To kick the truth to the young black youth

But shorty's running wild smokin sess drinkin beer

And ain't trying to hear what I'm kickin in his ear

Neglected, but now, but yo, it gots to be accepted

That what? That life is hectic
While I agree some of Wu Tangs shit is a bit overboard a lot of it is just kind of wild out there shit and not supposed to be taken serious, If you take a look at the lyrics to cream there is a lot of shit that hits home for many even if you were not out slanging you still have to deal with a lot of the other shit that they are talking about.

Agreed on CREAM....

I have never sold drugs...but I do hustle. It may not be hustling on the street corner...but corporate hustling...same difference I guess.

cream is also not entirely about selling drugs, its more about the point of "grimy *****'s" doing what ever to make the money, and i also pointed out that wu tang was its own stile all to itself, a revolution of hip hop as it where

Here is another good one (as I did quote fat joe and WU)

rtist: Fat Joe

Album: Represent

Song: The Shit is Real

Typed by: OHHLA Webmaster DJ Flash

[Fat Joe]

Yeah

This is goin out..

to all the live mother****ers, knowhatI'msayin?

All the real *****z

Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens

California

LaBella Puerto Rico, wherever the **** you from

KnowhatI'msayin? Yeah

This story takes place, back in the South Bronx

where at the age of 14 I was already knockin off punks (yeah!)

And suckers were scared to death -- every time I walked by

I hear them *****z take their last breath (ahhh..)

See I just didn't give a **** - and if you had a C-skin

a leather bomber, you was gettin stuck (word!)

That was the way it was

One day I went to visit my aunt, and stuck up my cuz

See shit was ****ed up back then

No matter what the **** I did I never had no ends

And my moms was on walfare

Aiyyo I knew I had a father, but the ***** was never there

So what the **** was I to do

I'm sick and tired of bein the bummiest ***** out the crew

I gotta get mine, I gotta get cash

I see an old man, I'm gonna rob him with the quick-fast

Give me your mother****in loot, papi

I'm gonna get paid, and can't a **** thing stop me

See, I'm tired of this poor shit

And who the cops? Well they can **** my mother****in dick

Cause all them *****z ever do is harass

That's why I get glad when I hear somebody smoked that *** (*gunshot*)

Just to let ya know how I feel

Word em up, the ****in shit is real

Hey yo, it's real

Chorus: (*cuts "Down on the reel to reel"*)

Aiyyo the shit is real

Aiyyo it's real

Word up, the shit is real

[Fat Joe]

Now I'm sixteen and there's a brand new scene

I'm makin mad loot, gettin paid off the dope fiends (word)

Keep the shit in check, in order

and my main man Tone was ****in everybody else's daughter

See everybody knew in town

that Joe and Tone had shit locked down

And a ***** wouldn't test me

It seems like every other day the ****in cops arrest me (yea!)

But the shit will never stick

I make one phone call and be out like quick

Cause Uncle Dan had my back

And now *****z gettin jealous cause they know I'm livin fat

Talkin shit around the way and on the block

But never in my face, cause they knew I packed a glock

And my crew is mad deep

A bunch of crazy Puerto Ricans, so aiyyo don't sleep (word!)

And all you ***** *** *****z know the deal

Check it out, the ****in shit is real

Hey yo, it's real

Chorus: (*cuts "Down on the reel to reel"*)

Aiyyo it's real

The ****in shit is real

Yeah.. aiyyo it's real

[Fat Joe]

Check it out

Let me let ya know why I made this song (why?)

Brothers can't deal with the real, word is bond

I'm sick and tired of these fake *** *****z

sayin that they catchin bodies when they never pulled a trigga

I know your style, I've seen it before

You wear an army suit, now you think you're hardcore

Drinkin on your 40's, smokin on your blunts

Can't afford a chain so you wear gold fronts, yeah

You're fakin the funk, kid

And you'll be gettin it up the *** if you ever did a ****in bid

It's time to separate the real from the phony

The name is Fat Joe, punk, act like you know me

I come equipped with the ruff shit

Nowadays I can't believe the bull rappers come up with

And all ya *****-*** *****z know the deal

Check it out, the ****in shit is real

Hey yo, it's real

Chorus: (*cuts "Down on the reel to reel"*)

Aiyyo the shit is real

Aiyyo it's real

The ****in shit is real

[Fat Joe]

Word up!

I wanna say peace to my peeps, The Beatnuts

Messengers of Funk, Strickly Roots

My man Funk Flex, Zulu Nation

Jazzy J in the house

Diamond D, the whole Diggin' in the Crates crew

And rest in peace to my man Tony Montana

Aiyyo, I'm out, word is bond

The shit is real

(*cuts "Down on the reel to reel"*)

Aiyyo
If you look at what Fat Joe raps about now its bullshit like everything else these days since he 'sold out' but at least his shit was on point in the beginning. He raps about all the other shit now because it sells and makes him $ and I honestly can't say I would have not done the same still does not mean it sucks.

Its ok, but stay on the topic and dont talk about guns the whole time- wont get any play.

I rap too, if you want to hear a track- PM me

Agreed on CREAM....

Same thing, you either are a hustler or not, you can be breaking down a rope and selling it as 20's on the corner, the guy at the mall buying a shitload of sunglasses for cheap and moving them or someone in the corporate world doing your hustle being a consultant. All basically the same thing in essence though some ways are legal and some are not.

there is a difference between KRS one and 50 cent.

is there not a difference between saul williams and lil wayne?

or baby compared to aesop rock?

there are comparison and theyre not the same thing.

rapping is rapping but theres different things besides that.

producers: stoupe to dj premier

RZA to justblaze.

its two totally different things.

as are rap and hip hop.
