*****ATTN CA.com JL IS NOT OVERPRICED*****

Listen up people...

This debate absolutely can not be proven one way or the other.

The definition of "overpriced" is 100% completely subjective. Look in the dictionary, there is no concrete definition of the word "overpriced" without using more subjective terms to define it.

A person's definition of overpriced can vary greatly, based on whatever reasoning they want. Some people put much more weight in a product's name brand, which is another subjective term. Some people emphasize quality, yet another subjective term. Do you see where this is going?

Every single person has their own definition of overpriced. I can not define overpriced for anybody but myself, nobody can, so stop trying.

Actually, it can mathematically, but overpriced/not over priced would be different for each observation.

See the study of econometrics. It is a discipline that does exactly what you say cannot be done.

No, you are wrong. There is no concrete definition of the word overpriced, even if you limit the scope of the definition to one single item.

I studied economics. Why don't you give us the definition then since it's so readily available to you? That would have helped keep this thread from blowing up to 10 pages and stopped a whole lot of debates about numerous things on this forum.

Here is a java function I wrote that expresses whether or not a product is overpriced....

public final int MORE_THAN_IM_WILLING_TO_PAY = ***put a number in here***;

public boolean isOverpriced(int price){

if(price>=MORE_THAN_IM_WILLING_TO_PAY){

return(true);

}else{

return(false);

}

}

lol I'm a nerd I know

It's something like that.

It's called a regression, which I am sure you are familiar with. However you must also introduce tests (j-test, chow test, etc...to "proce" the valditiy of your variables and tests)

While the model cannot tell if the product is overpriced, it can help determin the maximum amount you are willing to pay. If you cannot find a product for less than that price, it is overpriced to that particular observation IFF the good is substitutable.

Notice once again the large amount of variables and "ifs" in that statement.

Ultimately, everybody is willing to pay a different amount.

Using whatever methods you want, you can find the point at which a specific product becomes overpriced for that specific person, but there is no general definition of overpriced.

JL audio is like the GAP of car audio..... id rather go to macey's or dillard's
not only is that the WORSE comparison you also mispelled Macy's..... you've probably never been there either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nerd.gif.c6fa51ddf7ff75f1c0371fbc648f70ae.gif

This one we are working on now at school has 600 variables and we must have an R^2 value above .85

I'd agree with the portion I put in red. I even explained why in previous posts in this thread.

Excellent, then we can both agree that this thread will in no way change anybody's opinions about JL's pricing, so it should be locked and forgotten //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
