I want a bike just to ride from here to there nothing too expensive.

Not looking to do actual bmx just a nice light durable bike; if you could suggest brands and give links that would be great.

Nothing from Walmart, Target, etc.. Those bikes are junk, put together with power tools and are like lead weights. Go to a bike shop and tell them what your trying to do. There is probably a better option for you since your not actually going to be doing BMX with it.

I agree with the Fit bikes, never seen or rode a Kink, so I can't say anything about those.

My choice bikes, since I am also looking for a bike :

I've seen Kink bikes on the internet, but never first hand, so no comments on them. Fit bikes are strong bikes, and have held up my buddies for a while.

Drop a few extra bucks and get a BlkMrkt three57 or an Eastern thunderbird or traildigger 24, since you wont be doing BMX "stuff"

If you are just commuting and getting from here to there, a bmx bike is the worst solution. Bmx bikes and light dont usually go hand in hand, they are seriously uncomfortable, and are only 1 speed. But thats because the purpose of them is to be strong and not to be sat on and ridden very long.

Bmx imo is only for short... fun commutes.
