AT&T Phones

Thinking of signing a new contract with At&t and picking up a new phone. I currently have a Blackberry, but do not want another (internet is $50 more for blackberry).

I was at the At&t store Saturday and saw a couple I liked, but thought I would ask the ca.com crowd their opinions.

I DO NOT WANT THE IPHONE!!!!! I hate touchscreen applications.

The phones I did like were -

Pantech Slate

Pantech Matrix

Samsung Propel

I would like something with either a full QWERTY keyboard or at least a squished version of it like my blackberry has.

I will be using this phone for calls, texting (3-4k/mo), email, directions (not at&t GPS), and some surfing.

Any suggestions/opinions?? I plan on getting a new phone this weekend unless they are about to reveal a new phone that is off the chain.

Current phone - Blackberry 7130c. I love the speakerphone and quality of calls on this, but it keeps turning off on me for no reason, but have heard this numerous times from BB users.

I didn't see the 680 in the store.......but I REALLY like the looks of it!! Kinda looks like my blackberry!

$50 for BB service?

I would say BB Bold that just came out. Nice phone, a little big & heavy, but its a kick arse phone.

If you are at the end of your contract and you are in good standings with AT&T, call their CS and tell them you are thinking about leaving to another carrier because of the outrageous BB service cost. They will usually match other carriers fees or better, they rather do this than lose you as a customer.

I used this many times with Sprint, since I was a customer for over 10 years:eek:

i like the new blackberry storm. but its touchscreen as well.

my bro has teh pantech duo. its not too bad. got a number pad and a full qwerty keyboard as well. got it for $200 with $99 back. so $100 for it.

i like the palm centro. but thats touch as well

the LG Shine is cool. they have it in black so it doesnt have an annoyin glare.

Actually, when I got to the end of this contract, I had been with them for 10 years as well. I am in good standing, and I did try when I first got the BB. I was told it had something to do with the Blackberry programming.....blah blah.

The pantech duo felt VERY crappy in my hands....felt like I as going to break the demo.

LG shine doesn't have a QWERTY keyboard.

The duo is crappy. I thought the same exact thing when I held it. My sister got one and it broke within two weeks.

It sounds like the Blackjack II would be perfect for you. I've had a BJ I, and II. I highly recommend it. I haven't found another phone yet that I would rather have. It does everything, is very easy to use, and with the new Windows Mobile, is a lot nicer than many other phones.

Check it out.

BS from them.

Call them back, ask to cancel account. They will say why? Tell them you really don't want to cancel their service but the BB fees are too high. Tell them you need a BB and you might have to move to another carrier with lower fees like T-Mobile BB service for $20. Also mentioned that you have been with them for x amount of years.

If the CSR you talk to wont budge, just get off the phone with that one and try again:)

Don't talk to the CSRs with an attitude, just have a professional conversation about the scenario and they should work with you.
