Assassin suggestions

Hey I have a tight budget to work with and I was looking at the AA Assassin subs and they seem pretty good and I've heard some good things on here about them. I was wondering if people could tell me if getting two 12" would be good. Anyone have experience with the subs? How much power can they handle? Thanks

i have two 12's in 1.25 ft^3 each, sealed getting 500W RMW @ 2 ohms, total power.

they're have very good SQ, but i'd like them a little louder, so i'm going to try a 3.5 ft^3 @ 32 Hz ported box with the same power and see how they sound.

as for power handling i've heard 500W sealed for daily use is do-able as they are pretty underrated.

sounds pretty dam good. I think I'll be ordering them soon. I was looking for SQ that I could still get pretty loud and i've only heard good things about these subs so I think I'll be happy with them. Can't wait. Once installed I'll be posting pics because I'm getting whole new system. Thanks for the help too

are you going sealed or ported?

they definitely have good SQ sealed, i'll see about ported in a few weeks.

People need to get off the assassin boner, theyre no better then a Type R, and the 12" are about the same price.. 90 for a 12 inch assassin and around 100 for a 12" Type R

Thats if you buy online stupid...which means no warranty. Three years for the AA....

i have 2 AA Assassin 12's and i love them.. mine are in a sealed box a little over 1 cube each, and they ROCK.. i am giving mine about 350 watts, which is there RMS rating, but i hear they can take 450 no problem.. i had a orion 4002 (400X1 RMS) and 1 AA 12, and i could turn the amp up all the way, NO DISTORTION. period. my new amp, a x600.1 slams them even louder.. but i dont run it all out.. they are VERY LOUD, VERY LOW, and clean. i have owned a JL Audio 12w1's, 12W1v2, 12W0's, Cerwin Vega 15's (back in the day).. and i must say, for their cost, i think these AA's would be hard to beat..

and they may not be BETTER then a type R, BUT they ARE a little shallower sub.. only 6 1/8 deep so it will fit in a box in a tight spot better then the type R.. and with 15.5 mm excursion, again - hard to beat.

would u guys suggest ported or sealed for mine?? im going more for sq than spl, but i still want it to get loud with minimal distortion and i've heard good things with the assassins

If your looking mainly for sq, id go sealed. Ported may sound pretty good aslo, tuned to high 20's or so.

I think I want to go sealed. How big of a box should I get, I have plenty of space, and what should i tune it to?
