assassin 8 in bass tube issues

long story short, i blew my amp for my 12, put the assassin in a bass tube, and powered it with some small eclipse amp. anyway. it makes a rattleing noise like the dustcap is loose or somthing, but i ran it free air and it sounds fine, but when in the box it sounds horrible unless you cover the port. i grinded down all the sharp edges in the port and nothing. i know the assasin pushes more air than the original bazooka but im alittle confused, all i expected was port noise. not a rattle

and you really dont have to cover the port completely just put your hand somewhat over it... sorry forgot to mention

no idea, im shure its off, but i wouldent expect it to rattle like that unless the box is too big, and im shure its not

IIRC the bazooka tubes are tuned really high. Depending on the freq that you're playing, you may be getting too much excursion from the sub because it is unloading below tuning. Shitcan the tube and build a real box.

assassin only needs .6 in a ported box, so I'm guessing the enclosure it too big...

Assuming that the tube is 18" long with no displacements it's only giving him about .4 cf. Even at 24" its still not too big. I do seem to recal the tuning on those being really high (high 40s) though.
