Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been here with finals, vacation, and my brother's wedding. Anyway, I'm done with the construction of my fiberglass box for my Atlas 12. Just have sanding/painting left to do. Plenty of pics here . Lemme know what you guys think.

nice job .

I hope you plan on filling, sanding, and painting.

t9x I have the atlas 12's and I cant complain at all! I love em!

they sound great and they really pound. I compare at 220 wrms on each sub to people that are running alot more power than me . and I can hear em screaming to feed em more but my budget is pretty depleted right now and I still have to get comps and an amp for em . . .(I'm gonna fiberglass my kicks).

Looks great. What do you think of that Atlas? I'm really considering getting 2 12" Atlases powered by a PG Xenon 600.1.
Too late for that...all the Atlases are now sold. Well, the XBL^2 atlases anyway. You'll have to wait for the new Atlases with the new technology. Supposedly, they perform almost identically, if not better, according to Chad, the owner. Plus, they'll be a little cheaper. Between the current sale price and the old price, so I'm guessing $125ish. Anyway, I couldn't be more pleased with my Atlas. It's super clean and gets plenty loud for daily driving. It'd be nice to have a little more volume when I'm showing it off, but in the car, it's almost uncomfortably loud for those not used to car subs.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I just finished sealing up the holes this morning. I just have to wait for the resin to cure. I mixed it kinda hot, so it should be cured by the time I get off work at 5. Then I get to sand/fill/paint. I'll use the same rubberized undercoating/spray-in bedliner that I used for the trunk lid and my fiberglass door pods. I'll post more pics when it's painted.

I should add though, that the Avalanche 12 still isn't sold out. And at $200 a pop, you CAN NOT beat that. It'd probably be plenty loud for you T9X, cost the same as 2 Atlases(less w/ shipping) and take that PG Xenon all day without a hiccup. Makes me wish I would have waited another 3 flippin weeks. Could have saved $70 on my one Atlas, or upgraded to the Avalanche for only $40... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

mat > cloth //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
HOLY BUBBLES BATMAN!
And mat > cloth

Seal that baby up! Looks pretty good man.
Why is Mat > Cloth fellas? In what ways?
Oh, and the bubbles were just gaps between the fleece and the fiberglass. The fleece puckered in some places after I put on the resin, so I had some gaps between that and the fiberglass to make it smooth. The fleece isn't structural at all, so the bubbles that appear don't affect the overall strenght of the box.

Bump and additional question: is there any benefit to spraying sound deadener on the inside of a fiberglass box? I've heard of it being done and was wondering if it'd be a waste, or if there is a performance boost?

Yeah I ordered one of the last ones yesterday. They had 2 left before I ordered. Now I will have 2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Mat will add more strengeth due to the randomness of the fibers...
How does that make it stronger? You can pull the mat in any direction and it stretches. The cloth only stretches in one direction - diagonally - pull it up and down or left and right and it won't stretch. I'd think that this would make it stronger if anything.

However, when I was talking to the guy where I bought my fiberglass, I asked him if one was stronger than the other, if they were laid up in equal thicknesses. He told me that they perform the same. He's a graduate student in something like mechanical or civil engineering. Not sure if that makes him more or less reliable. I bought my fiberglass from the University I attend.
