Aren't all 6.5" Universal

yea. other than mounting depth, pretty much any 6.5 should work in an opening made for a 6.5.
Well, but the first part of your statement can make the second part meaningless (which I know you realize).

OP, you need to know how much depth you have to work with. Of course, you can add some depth by building an MDF ring, but the extent of the increase using just that mod may be limited.

Also, you can run into an issue with the basket not "narrowing down" fast enough for your stock mounting ring. That is kinda hard to describe, and really you can't tell until you get the speaker.

But most importantly, find out how much depth you have to work with.

Can you be absolutely confident that the mounting holes will add up? No exceptions? (Great fan of Mr. Murphy:D)
almost all will be very close in comparison. usually you have some flexability on the mounting location in your doors. the screws usually do not have to be exactly in one exact spot and not 1mm off. so as long as the DEPTH is ok, they will fit. Crutchfield might be considering the depth also and thats why they say it will not fit.

The reference coax will be too deep for your door. You'd have to cut out the back of the factory ring, which would make the magnet susceptible to water damage. The 6x9 may have issues with hitting the tweeter on the speaker grill, but the only other time i've had issues with those accords was on the models that had 6.5" in the rear. In that case you'd have to build a plate to make a 6x9 fit.
