i just hooked up a box for my mom and step-dad. they have satellite and dont get cbs from dish network //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif so they use an antenna to get cbs for football games

None of their tv's are HD. they have some shitty old rear projection tv in the living room.

The point is to free up bandwidth that the government wants to use for other things.

On cable...no issues with it.

Now, as far as buying an HDTV...the only reason I will is forced obsolescence. I may not be able to get a standard-definition TV the next time I get one.

I'm happy the DTV transition is going through, though. The amateur 6 meter FM band falls near the low VHF TV band, not having any TV signals there is going to clear a lot of interference issues up.

it seems some of you think its direct tv, or hdtv. Its Digital tv. Just the same analog signal brodcast in digital form. For hdtv, you will need a hd reciever. For direct tv you need cable or sat.

For Dtv, you need a converter. And yes, i got my coupon and converter., running it off a inverter in a mobile app.

DirectTV is a company. Cable has nothing to do with them. You won't need a converter unless you aren't connected to cable. They are just getting rid of the rabbit ears. Trust me, I'm an authority in this subject.
