Saw this while getting ready for work this morning and thought it was interesting
There's snake oil in more areas of audio (car and home) then I ever knewBest to have it and not need it......
Oh yes. But these specifications do give us a general idea of what we are buying for our preferred quality. And as the guy said, HE did not hear a difference and tossed in there that he is a doctor to give credence to his argument. Thing is we are not all built the same. There are people whom have more FPS in their vision whilst others have more color receptors therefore seeing things differently. I personally can hear a difference between my Class AB and D amplifiers, yet others call bollocks. "Take Clark's $10k challenge then" they say. I have read there have been a few that beat the challenge yet were denied for some excuse or other. There's snake oil in more areas of audio (car and home) then I ever knew![]()
I'm gonna re-rip a few cd's tomorrow and see how much of if any I an hear with my over ear headphones...if I can't hear much of a difference with the headphones, I'd never hear any difference in a carI have ~200 CDs that I ripped to high bitrate MP3, WAV or ACC files, and of that ~2000 tracks there's maybe 3-4 tracks that I can tell the difference.
I'm not saying you can't hear the difference, the overwhelming majority of the world can't. You reach a point of diminishing returns real fast especially in a car environment. So why pay extra on the chance the buyer might hear a difference on 24-bit track just to listen to it in a vehicle (what by any measure is terrible environment for sound reproduction). The high rez thing is real close to the "I can hear the difference between pure silver VS copper wire" high dollar home audio guys argueOh yes. I had a client that is an audiologist and an audiophile. He has some pretty fancy schmancy gear that wanted me to run some silver unicorn alloy wire for his HT set up. The wire was currently unavailable and pricey so I suggested using run of the mill OFC 14AWG in it's stead. From then on he gave up on Monster Cable and other fancy wire. The high rez thing is real close to the "I can hear the difference between pure silver VS copper wire" high energy audio guys argu
