I lived in Arizona for a while and tarantulas have a knack for getting into houses. Waking up in the middle of the night to take a piss and then seeing a big *** tarantula when you flip on the light sucks. I know they aren't harmful really, but they sure do look mean as hell.
I break something trying to kill it....Ball bat to toilet/sink whatever.

I'm terrified by them, yet fasinated @ the same time. I used to want to be a herpatologist until I came face to face with a copperhead. I never knew I could run so fast. lol

Their was a baby Pigmy rattlesnake in the warehouse here @ work last week. It met our new shovel.

Pilyin, those items are just theyre for size reference.

The Marlb Lights on the dresser also just happen to be there. I dont smoke them nasty *** things, Marlb Menthol and Cloves for my night and day. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Azbass, Thanks. Thats my Olive Python. She's a real sweety, and loves to roam arounf the house, but is starting to out grow it. lol

I'm not. This is a picture of me and Betsy. I miss her //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Is that a regular Olive python or a Paupan? I used to want a Paupan soo bad but $$$ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

And nice to see another blood keeper, I just sold mine actually cause I just moved, had no room in the new apartment to keep him, he was about 6 years old 6ft probably about 30 lbs, sometimes Id just let him loose in my room if he was getting restless in his cage, not like hes gonna get lost anywhere in there lol

It's a Paupan. I actualy got her in a trade for some Blood babies I produced last year, by the two pictured.

Unfortunetly, Ive had to sell them all this week, and last. Ive reduced to my frist snake, which is the Ball Python, pictured with the Pespi can. And my only redtail that I actualy bought that was a baby, 2 weeks old. Oh and a stupid corn, giving her to a friend.

My food bill a month was outrageous...around $100 a month...some times more if i was bulking up breeders.

I had to sell them all being my gf is PETRIFIED of snakes...and it was becoming too much of a load on me. Im the only one in the house that took care of them.

Im just catching up on this threat tonight...if I woulda known quite a few of you guys kept, woulda asked if any one was interested.

I feel relieved in getting rid of them, but also crushed. They were like the kids i'd never have/want, you know? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

took this tonight. the little one's tail was wrapped around the tail of the big one. i find this incredibly addorable, but that's cause i'm weird.

you can see the wounds from the rat attack 4 months ago are still healing but looking good.

those of you who dont know/remember......4 months ago the 3.5 baby red tail was attacked by a feeder rat. the snake was very shy and would take a LONG time before eating live rodents in the feederbox, so i'd let them sit overnight ussually. Well sure enough the snake wasnt hungry, but the rat was, and the rat attacked the snake. You'd think the snake would defend itself but it's a baby and like a baby, it sat there and took the attack and the rat ate 2 big chinks of the tail. the wounds were about 1 inch long by 3 inches long with 2 wounds. the rat ate through the scales, the underlying layer of skin, and into the muscle with raw muscle left exposed. The rat later chewed on the power cord of the heat rock int here and electricuted itself. needless to say it was a bad mounring that mounring. I did a little research and the best hing i could do is keep the wound clean with antiseptics and apply ointment every day/every other day. 4 motnhs later she's still healing. i'm suprised the scales that have grown back arent funky or scarred looking. i dont think i have any photos at the time of the attack. but imagine the surface area of 2 of your index fingers knawed all the way down to the muscle on the snakes tail

they cuddle

halloween this year with the lil red tail

the girl behind me in the red looks all so happy doesnt she

Just an fyi, you might already know this but... I found it was easiest to feed frozen/thawed if possible. If the snake will not take it, take the feeder by the tail and knock the shit out of it against a wall so you stun it. That way it can't do any damage to your snake. By the way, mine was a little over 7 feet and ate 2 pound rabbits //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I understand completely. I had to get rid of about 20 boas and pythons a few years ago because I didn't have the time to keep their enclosures clean like they needed to be. Things have finally settled down and I'm getting back into it again. I definately would have been interested in buying some of yours if I'd have known.

x2

NEVER feed live if you don't have to. Chicken broth helps to entice most stubborn snakes to take dead food. "Popping" the brains of fuzzy mice is very effective for small snakes.
