Forgot to mention experience with my first headunit, it was one of the Sony $100 specials... the silver one with red backlighting. 3 different buttons(including the volume button) stopped working within 3 years. I kept swapping buttons, as each one broke, but eventually I ran out of buttons...... McGuyver fail...

True, Sony does make some terrible pieces of equipment but so does every other manufacturer. It's called entry-level.

I see busted gear all day long on this site from Sony to Zapco. The problem is not the gear, rather the people who simply do not know how to choose the gear to meat their goals. Sony is not for SPL 99% of the time. If I bought a monster DD sub and asked it to perform subtle passages with delicacy and accuracy, most likely I'm going to be disappointed.

It's time to learn about amplifier topologies and how to make the best use of them.

Spam is actually rather acceptable. In fried rice, sushi, sandwiches... just not on CA.com

Your links however were a breath of fresh air, amongst the incessant shatting on Sony gear.
