Are "Enclosed Subs" Good?

I'll go the regular route and get a box, subs, and amp separate. The rockfords cost 290 with just a box and 2 subs. The two subs I can get for 120 and the box can't be worth the remaining 170. So I'll go the regular route. There's just so many choices.
