Are my subs pushing out all the power they can?

hello, i've got two 12" merlon MEWO-112D subs rated at 400RMS each, powered by a Merlon MEAM 2001D Amp. They hit hard when im driving , but when the trunk is open and im out of the car, i can barely feel them. When my hand is right next to them its not even a breeze. As this is my first system im curious if they are set up properly to put out ~1400RMS that there wired to put out. They're in a sealed box, so maybe thats why? I also have the LPF ~250 hz. Im thinking that too has something to do with it.

Thank you

When I put the Lpf any lower than about 200, the subs make , for a lack of a better term, a fart like noise? It doesnt sound good at all and I imagine its not good for the subs.

Your probably clipping them making it sound like butt hole.. and when there is too much air around the sub they don't get loud...like if your in my truck with the windows down its like a 1 or 1.5 db gain than when its up.. but when all the doors are open its not loud at all..

you don't feel air move b/c it's not a ported/bandpass box, you're not using a vent. sealed boxes don't move air the same way that a ported box does. so I don't know how you'd feel a breeze with your hand in front of the sub (maybe vibrations). if you have an amp that puts out 1400 watts RMS and you have it powering 2 subs that are 400 watts RMS each, you're overpowering them by 300 watts RMS each. I really hope your box is build 30% smaller than recommended.

LPF stops any frequency above your setting cut off from the sub. If you lower it and you hear a fart noise, sounds like your hitting the low frequencies but with some interference somewhere. How are your subs going to take 1400W RMS if they each only handle 400W RMS? You will blow or damage your speaker if you put too many watts to them that they can't handle. The max they put out is 1400W but that's for a peak of a really low note they you may hit for just a second or so. RMS is constant power so you'll need an amp that can put out 800W RMS.

sorry for the delayed response,

i cant get a clear picture of the settings on the amp as my windows dont let enought light in to prevent flash, and when flash is off, you cant see the picture. The settings are:

sub sonic-15 hz, low as possible

bass boost-off

LPF-250hz (any lower and the noise begins)

level-.15v

Phaseshift-0hz

As i was thinking about this earlier i wondered, if the subs preform at different levels when the trunk is open vs shut due to the fact that its a sealed case, is it possible that the farting noise doesn't occur with the trunk closed? i cant hear it, but then again, i cant hear anything when they're on.
