Some folks don't really appreciate what DSP's do. You might want to give a listen to a well tuned system before you spend the bucks.

Personally I'd rather have a well tuned system with a great sound stage than a loud system if i had to choose.

The PPI DSP88r is also a affordable alternative. More tuning capability than the 80 prs and cost a little less. I found one online under $200

When I finally settled using my iphone for a source unit with my Pure i-20 digital output, I didn't realize that my 14yr old Alpine ($1400) retractable screen with GPS would see it's last power up after hearing how clean digital output through my Audison Bit One really is. You don't need a HU anymore thanks to the Audison Bit One input options. Days of the HU is numbered due to the flexibility of my processor input options. So I say go get the best your money can buy for a pc/mac accessible processor, not an equalizer, not any AudioControl device or any passive x-over because they are dying dinosaurs. It's just the way progress presents it's self.

With these u can't run active and time align from ur hu since u r only using one pre out from ur head unit. Is that correct

Yeah i don't imagine running active is an option but i'm not 100% on that.

A processor is a EQ, crossover, time alignment, line driver, DAC... At least the good ones are. You can get cheaper stuff that has a few of those functions but not all, like audio control units. Good ones require a PC to set up and tune.
