Are 18's worth the space?

Im trying to decide how to upgrade next. Right now I have 1 15 in a 4 cube box which takes up half my trunk. If i upgrade to an 18, ill need an 8 cube box which will take up my entire trunk making it difficult to access my amp rack where my spare tire cubby is. Ill still have the same amp (ct sounds 900.1) to power it. My other option to upgrade is put in 2 15's also in a 8 cube box.

My question is, do you think 18's are worth it for the space they take up? or should i try 2 15's

Do you think 2 500 watts rms 15's splitting 1000 watts would be louder than 2 1000 watt rms 15's splitting the 1000 watts? Im just thinking about how much the cones move and if that makes a noticeable difference in loudness

It's all in the enclosure if you build it right lows will come feed them clean power ether of the subs will work.

depends on how efficient the design of the woofer is and how well it works inside the box. Some high RMS woofers need a lot of power to move while some dont need that much at all to get loud. I'd say just get the better woofer so in the future you can just add more power. YOU KNOW it will happen lol this addiction doesn't stop.

2-15s should be louder. But really pends on box. Going with 2-'15s will pretty much take up entire trunk also. So gonna lose trunk either way. The single 15 u have now can take all the power of the CT?

Let's see pics of the trunk as it sits. I've never seen more than single 15 or pair of 12s in a trunk that I thought were implemented optimally.

Here are some pictures. I have one SA 15 right now, and I'm redoing my amp rack so i just have the CT 60.4 in right now. the 8 cube box will fit perfectly in the entire trunk and be a bit taller but ill still be able to see over the seats (which is preferred)

The 15 is also a D2, which would mean i would have to get 2 new D4s to wire to 1 ohm. does sundown offer SA recone kits? or should i try to sell mine and buy 2 new ones

That's not a trunk, lol.

You have plenty of room to do whatever. I'd say get another 15 if you already have one.

Would be a cheaper upgrade than going and buying an 18, and you wouldn't have to deal with selling the 15. Also, that's not a huge cone area jump (15 to 18).

With my experience I prefer multiple 12s over 18s.

LOL. That's not exactly what I was picturing when you said "trunk" either.

I also vote for a second SA15.
