Arc Audo Flatline : Sealed or Ported?

No pics yet, will have when I get everything installed.

As for powering, I have a 1500 XXK powering the Flatline, and from Arc it says 1000 RMS, 2000 Peak.

Still havnt made a decision on Ported or Sealed yet....

Your definitely gonna want to seal it if you listen to everything... It will probably be sloppy on fast bass notes unless you do. Than again I have never heard one, but I say sealed. The 05" XXX is supposed to have great SQ (and it definitely does) and I sealed mine. I could hear it blending notes together when I listened to some rock songs when I had it ported. Then again it still hits 140's so I'm satisfied spl wise too...

If you want it loud and don't mind the boomier, sloppy bass port it.

If you want good sq and a tight response, go sealed.

Not for nothin'...but this driver doesnt need ANY help in the output department.

That power + sealed is enough to satisfy your bass tastes for every musical genre. But like recommended earlier , go slightly larger than recommended. ~1.2

sounds good. IMO Arc recommends too low of a a volume for all their drivers, likely to appeal to the small box crowd. Truth is them ID subs like a little more space to truly deliver a smoother lowend.

Hey guys, first system, first sub. Just wanted some opinions on which should I go with for my (1) 12'' Flatline D2which is goin into a 2001 BMW 330 Coupe.
The website Arcaudio.com suggested

Optimum sealed enclosure : .9 cuft

Ported enclosure : 1.8 cuft @32hZ

Any help/advice would be great.

Oh yea, im runnin a 1500 XXK to this sub if thats a factor into this.

What's up man,

I had the same question as you did and let me tell you i tried both boxes and the sealed sounded much, much louder in my car. If you wanna go ported you need a huge box, but i can see that your car doesn't have that much space so you can't fit a huge box to put a good custom ported enclosure in your trunk.

I would highly recommend go sealed;)

Ported boxes are more for SUV's......
