Arabian Music

Start off with the more easily accessible stuff like Panjabi MC, Tarkan, and Samira Said. They all have very western influeces but still are quite Middle Eastern (not the same as Arabic) in their sound. What kind of Middle Eastern sound do you want? There are almost as many different genres in that region of the world as there are in America.

The Putumayo CDs are pretty good and relatively cheap. If you want traditional music, Marcel Khalife is insanely good at playing the oud. Personally, go to Amazon.com then look at what music is crosslisted with those artists I named. With the internet Middle Eastern music is easier to find and listen to.
