Aquiring PS3's on the launch date?

ps3 is going blu-ray

360 is getting an hd dvd add on....

both companies are backing different "next gen" dvd formats

whichever one wins on that front will be the better system.....

what good is a blu-ray player if hd wins out and vice versa......

kinda like vhs vs. beta-max

only time and personal preferance will tell........i do know that hd dvd players are already cheaper than blu-ray players and that might mean quite a few dollars going the hd dvd way.....

and i heard or read the cheaper ps3 didn't have the blu-ray....is that true?

i'm hoping the year long lead the 360 has is going to be enough to keep them in the lead.....

ever since the xbox came out i've liked it more than the ps2 and have owned both......

but like it was stated before.....unless you have a tv capable of showing the full resolution of a next gen player....bragging about having said player is pretty much pointless.......i'm going to go the 360 route when the price finally drops some....i'm guessing it will drop a little around november 11.......microsoft says it's not going to but i'm thinking it would be a great strategy to pull more people in

Why would the cheap ps3 not play blu ray? Thats like saying a cheap ps2 wont play ps2 games....and i seriously think sony is going in a bad direction...i own a gamecube and a ps2 and am by no means an xbox fanboy...i dont like xbox that much...but the fact that the ps3 is going to be more than half a grand...scarce at launch...buggy at launch (anyone remember all those shitty ps2's?)...xbox 360 is going to be looking real good this holiday season especially when the new grand theft auto comes out on it...

might try and grab a ps3 just for the turn around value on ebay //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

EDIT: I agree with the price drop...microsoft denies it but you know they want to. There will most likely be a price drop for the holiday season...but I betcha it's real close to PS3's launch date

I have one already...Well...its not really mine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
ummm.....ok. I'm a little lost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

I thought the blu-ray was only for dvd playing and not game related.....if the games are going to be on blu-ray discs then i guess the cheaper model will have to be blu-ray capable obviously.......

from what i understand the blu-ray advantage over hd-dvd for gaming purposes will pretty much only be in the cut scene graphics which i could care less about anywho.......i know blu-ray discs can store more on them but the possibility of producing a game that would take multiple hd-dvd's is slim from what i understand........i think it's pretty much going to be a matter of opinion any way you look at it anywho

Microsoft has stated that no games will be released on hd-dvd. The 360 uses dvd-9.
