AQ2200D or Hifonics Bxi 2608

A few years ago my bro & I used eight Hifonics Brutus bx2005s and a matching 5-channel Zeus because we thought they were a good bang for the buck. They were over-rated and I got louder on the TL swapping to some RF T1000s. Also one of the bx2005s and the Zeus fried on us. After being sent off to get repaired it took literally one year to get the amps back from the official Maxxsonics repair center. I'll never use another Hifonics amp again because of the absolutely horrible experience we had with them.

The reason most would take the AQ3500 over the crunch is because the AQ's warranty and quality is much higher than that of the crunch. It is nice to know that even if something does happen to break, it is warrantied.


The hifonics are slightly overrated while the AQ will do rated power. I have seen quite a few Brutus's blow first hand, so I don't like them to much. T

My gp3000d-pro never gets hot, barely warm at full tilt after bumping 60mins+. My gp3000d-pro has a warranty also. Never owned the aq3500d but i can tell you that the gp3000d-pro is the same if not better quality than the aq2200d. If it breaks 9/10 times its user error. I have never heard one bad thing about the gp3000-pro. The only advantage of the aq3500d is the led clipping light which is not needed if you know what your doing. If 500 more watts that your not going to notice is worth 250$ more dollars to you then to each his own. Shit you could add 100$ more dollars to the cost of a aq3500d and pick up 2 aq2200d's lol

Never used the hifonics amps but i can tell you the crunch gp3000gp is a way better built amp than the bxi 2608d and down.

The 2005 brutus amps were admittedly overrated. I think I even saw a post from someone from maxxsonics or team maxxsonics saying this.

Being said.. the 08 models make rated with good voltage.

The AQ amps are good.... but IMO the quality isn't leaps and bounds above some of the hifonics. But They will do rated or slightly above.

lots of rumors saying this amp is overrated, yet no proof, no test, no pictures. I recently installed two bxi2608s on a pair of L7s and came to the conclusion that these amps do rated power at 14.4v. if you feel otherwise, please post your results so we can compare. Nonetheless, gain was set my DMM, while bass on headunit at -7. Amplifiers were set at 50.9v according to the gain tutorial.... and here are my results:
VAC= 66.1

CAC=16.89

66.1 x 16.89 = 1116.429 rms

66.1/16.89 =3.9ohms (Reactive Impedence)

Voltage dropped to low 13s

amplifier did 1116.4 @ 3.9ohms, yet its rated at 850 @4ohms

further results.....

1455.1 @ 2.77 ohms

985.6 @ 5.4ohms

1803.1 @ 2.3 ohms

1319.7@3.03 ohms

Pictures- wires are messy, but its temporarily until i figure out where i want everything. More results with lower ohm loads soon to come after i get my DMM back

You got me. It wasn't really a matter of not researching, but more of just missing that thread. I know the 05's, and 06's were overrated, and I wasn't aware they upgraded for 08.
