AQ tunings

I hear that AQ subs like to be tuned high, like 36-38 hz? With proper enclosure size and a 12" SCD2.5, will it still play the lows like I want it too at 38 Hz? Also, will these things get loud off 600 watts?

35-40hz tuning. the sub is rated 500-1000w, so i dont see why it wouldnt get loud off of 600w

the box that jeremiah25 used in the bravada was 1.8 @ 38hz. im thinking about doing a new box for mine and making it 2.0 @ 40hz. i think most ppl on this forum do tune them at 40hz. and i had the older hd3s and my box was tuned to 35hz and i loved it, but i think my reg cab truck played the lows better than the car im using now

Little over an hour from you in Beaufort. Ya I'm thinking about going from my two 10s to one 12, but picking up the volume a little. I've got the AQ1200D as well for my amp, love it. Wasn't sure if i wanted a type R off 1200 or a SCD2.5 off the 800 i can give.

yeah ive been to beaufort before a few times. id go with the aq ive always been a fan since i had a hd312 a few years ago.

Ya I'm shopping around, not looking to spend a ton of money, but want something that will be louder and better than my two pioneer 10s lol. Every time I start to push them they burn.

id probly go with the sd2.5 with that amp. i kinda wish i woulda got that instead. but i wanted to run the amp at 1ohm. atleast i dont have to worry about pushing it too hard with only 1200w and the sd2.5 is alot cheaper

Ya im thinking either two of the 10s or one 12. The only thing is, I dont want the box much bigger for the 12s, so i might just do a slightly bigger box, and get two or the SDC2.5 10s running 1200 watts. Now that would slam. So I'm thinking for the both of them, 3 cubes net and tuned to 38. Thats about $340, subs and box which isn't too bad. I wish people had more vids of the newer SDC2.5s though, I want to see some action.

yeh ive thought about 2 sd 2.5 10s, but i dont wanna do a 3cf box. the box right now is already a pain to mess with. i think im gonna do a smaller one

well i just called DJ and he said 2.5cF net would work for 2 10s. so i might try that also

Ya I just talked to him about it too lol. 2.8 net isn't too much more than i have now, only thing wrong with my box is its 2.6 tuned to 32, so too low for recommended for the AQ stuff. I'm thinking if I have the money soon, two nice 10's and 1200 watts sounds like it will rock.

You can shorten the port to raise up tuning, but you'll gain box volume...

Actually gaining box volume wouldn't be a bad thing in my case, but how would you go about shortening the port? Maybe taking the subs out and using a jig saw or dremal to chisel out the port a few inches?
