AQ remote gain control, bad or god?

I want to get a gain knob for my BRZ 1200. I read about it and it made me skeptical, people say they cause problems and clipping. If I bought this one and hooked it up, turned it to max, and set my gain properly with a DMM with the knob on max would it be a problem? I don't want to clip my new HDC3 to death but I do want to use one of these.

unless you have a oscope or smd dd1 or whatever you are still not going to know if its clipping. and why are you saying aq remote gain control? the aq gain controls have a built in red lighted clipping sensor on the knob.

So the sensor would tell me if its clipping accurately? That's why im saying the AQ one. Can I use that one with any amp?

The AQ remote adjusts the actual gain on the amp, you set the gain pot and use the remote to attenuate. The HiFonics remote is a bass boost remote that adjusts the boost at 45 hz. 2 completely different tools.

My dc bass nob had the clipping light on it and was very acurate actually. If it would work with ur amp i would recomend one.

AQ knob is 6 pin and it has been tested against an O scope numerous times and found to be very accurate.

OP wants to buy a AQ gain boost remote to replace the Bass boost remote on his HiFonics BRZ....2 different remote functions all together...why risk amp damage?

Remote is not a volume knob. Set it up the way it works/sounds best with Oscope/DD1 or DMM and leave it a lone. If you tune properly, there would not even be a need for it

Uh, it is a volume knob lol. It may adjust gain but it's there to be a volume knob. It's a convenient way to turning down the bass instead of going through your headunit

It is not "technically" a volume knob. If that's what you wanna use it for then cool
