aq 2200 power hog?

im at work right now so i cant read it yet....
It is a very long thread like 30+ pages. So just skimming through it when you get a chance will do. It will go ever everything that is required to swap out alts and what all trucks you can look for in junk yards to snag one from. If you want to go new, there is a list of part numbers that work as well.

What year is your truck?

Still doesnt seem like thats the whole story... I ran an M3a with an extra Deka and the stock 90 amp and was just fine...
thats what i said... something else sounds wrong

That goes to the "what works for one does not work for all" side. Also what one person considers to be "working" may not be what some one else wants to have. Not saying it didn't "work" or ever that it didn't "work well". It is all relative to many many things.
Let me put it this way I never dropped near that low and I never had any problems or felt I was pushing it to hard daily...

cool story bro
Go play with your BRZ and shhhh!

is the aq a power hog im running a stock batt an alt with a hc 2400 an its droping to 11.1 with the amp half way up is some thing wrong with my amp? im running all 0 gage btw
Back on topic, check your grounds and all wiring connections. If all that turns out fine, then take your batteries have them tested at an auto parts store on their load tester to see if they are good still. Also have your alt checked.

I agree, the OP has more issues then just what we are discussing. But each car is different as is the wiring. We don't know how he wired anything or what it looks like. Could be a bolted down ground..or it could just be tapped on...lol no one knows but the op.

For a 95 you will need to buy a new bolt and nut for the lower left mounting hole. You will also need to drill out the hole a little to allow it to line up. It is very easy and quick. Only takes an extra couple min over swapping a basic alt in. Other then that get a .25" long belt and you would be good. I have a .5" long belt and need to swap back to my .25". The .5 seemed fine, but after about a week it stretched more then I wanted.

x2 check your grounds. Believe the 2200 will draw a around 200amps at full tilt. I doubt you're seeing that with rise.

To all those with 14+ volts at idle and dropping to low 12's with system playing. An HO alt would keep you at 14+ while playing = more power from the amp

Rabbit you did your best, some listen and learn, some don't...

not tryna seem slow but are you saying put a diff belt on my current alt?

id do listen. i just dont push mine hard on a regular basis. about 2 times a month maybe and only for about 4mins each

Yea, it is a direct replacement(well you have to widen one hole a bit). Your stock is 100A the AD244 on larger alts is a large case alt and you can use that. Once you do that, you will also open up a wide range of after market options. Almost any large case GM alt will bolt on at that point.

I have a 1995 sitting here I can take some pics of if you want.

Swapping to the AD244 alt from a full size gm truck is what increases the amps. In order to make the alt work on your truck you have to increase the belt size and enlarge one of the mounting holes.

pretty much what everyone is saying:

-in a perfect world, you want your car to always be charging above 14.0v while system is at full tilt.

-adding batteries can protect your voltage for a short period of time, but there is a time where you can play it to long and the alternator can not keep up with charging the extra batteries.

-some are happy with being in the 12 volt range, but that is completely subjective, the higher the voltage, the less hard your system needs to work, which results in less heat, which also results in a more healthy system.

-if you have the money, go with a HO alt. that is the only way you can completely cure your voltage problems.
