apple lossless? good mp3s

I'd like to extract the best mp3s possible and was wondering if the uncompressed format on iTunes was the best you could get and when you burned the tracks onto a cd, whether or not it compressed them.

Are you talking about .mp4's? If so, they won't play on an .mp3 HU, unless the HU is .mp4 compatible.

If you have an ipod use the apple lossless setting. HOWEVER, this format will not play on MP3 discs in MP3 compatible CD players. You will have to reconvert at that point.

Worth it though IMO.
