AP15001D goes into protect when bass hits

Finally finished my two day install... (103º and doing everything alone made it take a lot longer than it should have)

Got it all wired up for testing before I put everything back together. Turned it on, all seems well except there is a lack of bass. My AP15001D is going into protect everytime bass hits... it will play VERY little amounts of bass but anytime anything hits, it goes into protect. (Seems to do this regardless of HU volume). Thought it was my ground, so I ran a test ground straight to negative battery terminal. No help... Any ideas?

P.S. My highs amp is running off the same ground and power and is having zero problems. (4ga kolossus fleks to kompression distro blocks to 2x 8ga kolossus fleks for power and same for ground)

My HU puts out a 5v preout and my AP15001D has a 5v max input level... could this be affecting it in any way?

Thanks for any help... I'd really like to get this running right tomorrow.

The 8 gauge is only about 2 ft long. Just didn't want to make 2 full runs for a little ~300rms watt amp.

I'll bust out the DMM tomorrow and check my voltage at the amp to see what it's doing. Any other ideas before I get out there in the 111º heat index? LOL

That *may* have something to do with it, but my stock gauge still shows me around 13-14v.

Also, anything that would normally cause a sub to play louder causes the amp to go into protect. Turn gain up, it goes into protect. Turn bass boost up, it does the same. Turn them all the way down and it doesn't, but there's no sub at that point. I can't even get it loud enough to audibly hear it... only way I can even tell it's moving when not in protect is by feeling it.

your gain needs to be relatively low if the ap has 5v max inputs, what is your sub/subs wired to? id upgrade that 8 gauge for sure though imagine ******* a baseball through a water hose thats what your forcing your amp to do basically.

That seems to be a common theme, when something goes wrong. Should have said "I did not feel like doing it right the first time".

All kidding aside, had the same problem, but in my case it was just where I grounded it. Once I moved the ground I was good to go. Also check how you have the sub wired!

Tried several things to no avail. Finally pulled the sub, rewired it the same way, and viola. Everything works wells (cept I found out my box is leaking!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ) Anyway, I guess something just wasn't right in there.

R u retarded or is this a mistype? Glad you got it fixed.
I was speaking of my highs amp. Not the AP lol... 8ga wire can run a lot of current in short increments. I see no problem with the way it is set up. Looks great and sounds pretty good as well. Pics will be up later today!
