Anyone worked on 98-02 Lincoln Town Car?

Are there any weird glitches or things I need to watch out for? The car is going to be in the paint shop getting all jazzed up until either late fall or when winter's over so I have plenty of time to think.

here's the ride... still trying to decide whether to go with the same glossy black or something else.

Well other than the 4.6 engine and ***** combo is junk, and the power seats go out frequently, and you have to **** near pull the motor to replace the driver side crank sensor, i dont know of anything else.

The paint looks fine, why are you painting it? Id black out the wheels and head/tail lights and call it done

It has a few dings, faded spots and small rust here and there, my buddy wants to make it good enough to take photos for a magazine(not saying he will but he said he's gonna keep it until he dies). Definitely leaving the chrome wheels because it matches all the other chrome accents, he also wants to swap a bigger engine in there, prob a 460, and full exhaust job next year. I told him to get a shop to fit a 572 big block in there. It's teh Cartier series too so it's fully loaded with all the options, it even has an analog clock in the dash.

That car will have four 12" Solo-Xs and at least 6000 watts in the trunk.

If he wants to do a swap, just go to a 5.4 DOHC cobra motor, add a s/c and call it done. Everything will pretty much interchange. That combo will get you atleast 500hp/tq, which is plenty for a street car on street tires IMO. I went from a buick 231 v6 in my daily driver to a big block olds putting somewhere around 500-600 at the rear wheels and its annoying to not be able to get traction anywhere if you wanna get into it, but fun sometimes too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Weird thing is, the old worn out V6 got worse gas mileage, lol.

 
Hummm the 5.4 supercharged from a ford Lightning or add a Whipple charger is a great idea, plus it'll keep it Ford/Lincoln so we won't get hated on for having a Chevy motor haha. I just texted my buddy and he said well that's next year's winter project lol

 


Holy hell we have... a mechanical term nazi!!! I have a 3000 watt woofer and a 1000 watt amp so I have a 4000 watt system, the power the woofer makes is so awesomez.

doesnt seem worth all the money for that car. imo.

In 10 years that car will be a classic, my buddy is serious on keeping that car until he dies unless some idiot crashes into it. Once it's done it's going to be awesome.

FYI this car has the same trunk as a crown vic and the backseats don't fold down, anyone have suggestions on getting the bass through? I was thinking about having the body shop cut a large opening in the rear dash.

It sits in the garage for 9 months out of a year guy, we're up in Wisconsin so as long as you keep it out of snow it'll last a long time, plus he's just gonna keep throwing money at it when he needs to.

So no one worked on one of these here? That's lame.

 
its a pretty bad car, imo i say you just take the chrome off the sides. and just upgrade the rims. or just go with original rims they look sick original, depends on which ones you get though

I totally forgot to not take advice from you anymore.

Can't ask serious advice on this site anymore without it turning it into some kind of trollfest. I'm asking about anything I need to watch for about installing the stereo, not the car itself. We're not dumb enough to install a ~7kw stereo and new paintjob without getting the mechanicals right, so stop hatin just because the paintjob alone will cost more than all of your stereo equipment combined.
