I was laid off from my old job at the end of last year and I'm having a hell of a time finding work. I have a college degree in business, but I live in an area with not that much industry so finding a job has been tough. Luckily, there are tons of big box stores around- Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Best Buy, Circuit City etc etc... Anyway, I am thinking about going around to a few of these stores and speaking with the human resource department to drop off my resume.

So, my question to anyone worked/working at a big box store- what has your experience there been like? Could someone with a college degree find a decent job at one of these store? And by decent I mean at least $10-12 an hour. Any ideas??

I would think with a degree you should be able to start off at 10-12 an hour.....did you come from a "big box" store? and how much expereince do you have/?

Coming from a manufacturing company where I worked in marketing. I am at least hoping to get something that would help pay the bills until I found something better.

LOL you don't drop off your resume, you fill out an application and they hire you to be a part time cashier. Maybe they pay $10 depending on your area. Here they don't.

hell when childrens hospital threw out all its workers around here my father went to target. nice hook ups atleast , not the greatest discount but it works. hes a painter so he does all sorts of crap work there compared to what he did at childrens tho.....

I make about $18/hour at Staples + 5-10K/year in bonuses, 4 weeks paid vacation, full medical + dental, life insurance, blah blah blah ...

Not as much as I'd like for an hourly wage, but it was one of the few jobs that offered full medical coverage and, considering my medical bills are $400+/month, it works out in the end ...

fck must be nice to make that kind of cash at the big box stores u guy's work at. sh*t when i used to work at media play , fye , target all i made was lkie $7.50to$8.50
