I have two sets going in a motorcycle along with 2 6x9's and I was wondering what amp's you are using to power these speakers . I was told they need a a/b amp to sound good ? Any truth to that statement ? Can I get away with using a good SQ d amp ? I was looking at the hd900 amp to run everything now not so sure .

Thanks

That HD900 is a good one. Class D is fine. And perfect for a motorcycle because of the size. The PPi Phantom 900.4 is a great little amp too. And cheaper if that's a concern.

A TON of people are moving to class D full ranges. The A/B vs. D myth has pretty much been dispelled.

Thanks for reply. I have a 1000 give or take for the amp. Looks like Jul it is . Its been tough finding a small sq amp.

It wont be a problem at all . Running a braille B3121C battery and the Harley Charging system will work just fine . Doing a 2008 street glide now and thats why I was asking for some input . On my current ride a 06 Deluxe I have 4 6x9's two bullet tweeters two d/s/i tweeters and a kenwood 600 watt amp with alpine marine head unit and no problems off a stock battery . I can send you some pics if you would like to see the set up its pretty clean .

Ok I would like to help you.

I looked up the specs for the charging system for your current project

Charging capacity: 30 amps with engine running at 3,000 RPM. At Idle: approx 18 amps

Amps needed to run the bike: 16 plus an additional 2 amps to maintain battery charge

Power does not come from your battery, it is supplied from your alternator. Your battery is for reserve capacity for starting the motorcycle.

The HD900 amp can pull over 100 amps of power - you have 12 amps available from your alternator.

Also the HD900 is a 5 channel amp, I did not see that you have plans on using a subwoofer so at the most a 4 channel amp is all that is needed.

Using the battery for the parking lot . I was going to get the 5 in case I added a sub to the bag in the future and for the 6x9 now . PM soon
