I had the same problem with mine on a metra kit (I think it was metra)

I ended up breaking it and just used plumbers tape/duct hangers for it

its a bish (at least for me, but Ive only installed head units in 3 different vehicles, so my experience is limited)

well, I think so, but Ive only owned two cars, so maybe Im just ignorant about standard h/u installation..

my method is working out fine, and you cant tell at all if the dash isnt off..

"iso something mounted" is the term i think, and it helped with skipping from the bass a lot

The kit I had..... worked? a screw on each side and two on the bottom IIRC. I haven't seen the inside of the dash a 93 in almost a year and a half.
