Anyone who has had eye problems, I need your advice

First a little background on my vision. I have been very near-sighted my whole life, and was prescribed contacts in the 4th grade. My prescription strength started around -1.50 for each eye. I am now 19, and I wear a -6.50 in my left, and a -7.00 in my right.

Anyways, over the past couple of months, I have had an increased amount of floaters in my eyes, and some won't go away. I have had them before, but they always went away. My vision has also become slightly blurred, and reading has become much more difficult (not harder to see, but getting harder to read fast and comprehend).

I have also developed bad swelling in my left ring finger and my right middle and ring finger. My shoulders are also sore, as is the bottom of both my feet. I do not have any abnormalities in my bloodwork tests, so I am somewhat dumbfounded. I have been sleeping with my contacts in more than I use to, and I do not have contacts that you can sleep with. Any opinions?

I also am near-sighted (-1.50) and have astigmatisms in both eyes. I recently developed a floater in my left eye about 10% off dead center vision at 3 o'clock. My OD said it was just debris that was harmless and would evenetually disolve. He did not seem the least concerned.

Not sure that is helpful to you. I was just stating my experiences.

I am not sure the swelling or pain are connected to the vision issues. Have you ben tested for diabetes?

Ebola.

seriously though, what exactly did your blood tests look for ? They don't just have a test that checks "everything about blood". Have you checked for high blood sugar, or high calcium? Id also get you're bilirubin level checked.

and im not full of shit, I work in a hospital and have years of medical background. Ask your doc about those items.

Yes, my glucose level is normal. I am overweight, and not too active currently, but my vitals are normal. The floaters are worse when looking at a bright or blank object, such as the sky or a white wall. Its almost like I see little objects that keep quickly moving around in my eye. I was thinking maybe retinal detachment?

I have the floaters too. I asked the doc about them once. She said it was something to do with stuff coming off the wall and they float behind your eye in liquid or something. That was a year or two ago. She said they were working on a way to get rid of them with a laser. They are VERY annoying

I was checked for glucose, arthritis, lupus, parvo B-19, liver function tests (AST and ALT levels [they were slightly above normal] ), my Bilirubin came back negative, my HDL (good) cholesterol was a little low, and my LDL (bad) was a little high. My overall cholesterol was fine. Calcium was fine, pretty much everything was normal except for my AST and ALT levels and white blood cell count, but they were barely above the norm.

Troof, floaters are mostly harmless and just a natural part of aging. But everytime I move my eye, they drag and follow were I am looking, then kinda fade out of my sight, but the second I look somewhere else, they follow. I am just wondering why this is all happening at once and in such a short time period.

Oddly enough, I was at the optomitrist last night getting my eyes checked. I have horrible vision, and yes I too have floaters. Floaters can show in your eye as strings, particles....and even bad ones can entirely block out your vision, allthough rare.

The reason you see them sometimes and not others is because of the angle on incidence of the light entering your cornea. Thats all.

well that's certainly the major points of testing right there. How about your TH levels ? (thyroid)

Thyroid levels were normal. This was a concern for me at first since my dad developed hashi moto disease (progressing death of your thyroid), but my levels were fine. I also and getting really dark, baggy eyes and am kinda pale compared to how I was a year ago.

But I just HATE glasses,....I rarely even wear sunglasses. Its because I like people to see my eyes when I talk to them. Maybe im weird like that?
