Anyone want to help me work my new DMM

It's just a standard DMM CEN-TECH made. My question is how do i test certain things with it. For instancefirst off where do i plug the wires onto the dmm and how do I test voltage of 12 volts i know it ahs to be set at dcv 20 but after this then what? Plug the black lead of the meter into the space for ground. Plug the red lead into the space for volts. Place the red lead on what you want to test and the black lead to ground.
