If you could find a couple used ID maxs that would be a good choice. New would be out of your price range I would think, but everyonce in a while a good deal comes along on some used ones. Do a search on image dynamics and youll find alot of stuff. They are an excellent SQ sub but have lots of potential to get loud, and alot of people dont know about em so i guess you could call em "underground".

btw fi seems to be pretty popular, i have id idmax which i love. resonant engineering (re) and ascendant audio (aa) seem to be pretty popular as well. also check out tc sounds. they are the buildhouse for eclipse subs and im sure other as well, like soundsplinter i think
