Anyone used any of these/advice?

Hi, I currently have a Polk 2 channel amp bridged, putting out 500 w rms @4 ohm to my sub. The amp is powering the wrong type of sub, (IB in a sealed box) so looking for a new one. Box is .7ft sealed. I cannot find a ported box small enough for the compartment it goes in, so this box will have to do.

Choices are:

Jl 10w1

Kicker Comp VR

Alpine Type S

Infinity Reference 10

The compartment has a 10" port going to the open cab, so looking for lots of SPL to make it through, maybe not as much emphasis on SQ.

I'd go with the Type S as long as your box is within recommended specs, make sure you get the dual 2 ohm so you can wire it to 4 ohms.

Out of those choices, I'd go with the Infinity. Gets loud on little power, and sounds pretty good doing it.

If it were me I would get the alpines because I've never heard them. I've owned 2 12" infinity reference 1220s back around 2003. Really nice subs for my first system. Had good sound quality and got reasonably loud.

Interesting, no votes for JL yet. I think I want to push more air for more volume and thump, so is sensitivity of 91 on the Infinity vs 84 on the Type S (and my current sub) going to make a big difference? Some reviews of the Type S say it really pounds, but the Infinity reviews don't mention the same. I also noticed some quality problems on some of the Infinity reviews on Sonics.

Another thing about the infinity, in the past when i owned the reference 1220s, the voice coils had somewhat of a problem of overheating and detaching from the tinsels. That was back around 2003, I don't know if they are still known for having that problem now. If you were looking for SQ I would go with JL or Infinity, but for SPL and still sounding good, I'd go with alpine. Also, the sensitivity won't matter that much. Someone mentioned the Infinity's would be more responsive on less power.

Kicker cvr, was loud but that was with four 12s

Infinity, never heard it, but Harmon Kadon has a solid rep

Is a boomy type s still going to give that in your chest thump?

I currently have a Type R based I/B sub in the box, and it just doesn't seem to hit that hard. Trying to fix that with the right sub for the box.
