Anyone use Turbo Tax?

I'm downloading a copy of the deluxe version right now to tinker around with it. I'm curious if anyone here has tried it and what they thought about it? Is it relatively the same as having someone do your taxes for you? Could I use a current pay stub to enter my info in?

I'd like to start doing my own taxes, and right now I'm a single student who works full-time living with the folks. I figure it's as good a time as any to learn and when I'm married I'll already have some familiarity with this and hopefully me and the woman can do our own taxes without having to pay someone to do it for me. I'm just hoping that it will do it correctly and I'll get what I should get back.

is it a free download

I have used it for the past few years.

I like it.

Used it for some projects back in college for Income Tax class when we had to use a tax preparing software aswell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

speaking of this can i just get the basic or do i need the deluxe since i have state taxes also?
By looking at TurboTax's website, it doesn't appear state is included with either the Basic or Deluxe. So with either addition, if you want to file your state taxes with TurboTax you'll have to pay extra.

It appears the Deluxe just includes a "Deduction Maximizer"....which is really only something you would benefit from if you have a mortgage, dependents, etc. If you have no dependents, don't own your home, or haven't had major medical expenses (i.e. if you would just be filing form 1040EZ), all you would need is Basic.

Does anyone know where to look into seeing if there are deductions for mileageor textooks for a student? My school is 80 miles round trip and any little bit would help.

Also, my folks have asked our tax guy before and he said books can't be deducted which to me seems ridiculous.

You might check the irs web site.
